Tarpon fishing has remained strong even through all the weather we’ve had. The larger fish will begin to stage out in front of major freshwater sources, feeding on everything from glass minnows, ladyfish, and the big one is shad. The smaller juvenile fish will be a little bit farther inside on deeper sections of the freshwater source and they typically cooperate the best during our twilight hours of the day. Plotting your approach is the difference between success and failure along with using flies that plane on the part of the water column they rest after they roll. My all time favorite is a simple dahlberg imitation that I can pluck apart to achieve what is needed for the situation.
